When we were still homeschooling the boys, I loved getting homeschooling magazines in the mail. I'll admit that I didn't get very much else done on the day a new magazine arrived - I couldn't wait to read it - but it always seemed that I found just what I needed to encourage me over the current homeschool "hump" that I was trying to get over, around, or through. Have you ever faced a homeschool hump? Sure you have. We all do from time to time.
The Old Schoolhouse Magazine is a newer magazine, one that wasn't around when we were active homeschoolers, but I feel like I can recommend it both by reputation and by reading all about it on their website. Their list of contributors reads like a who's who in homeschooling with dozens of the great names that I'm so familiar with. Dr. Ruth Beechick's name is on the list and she's my all-time favorite homeschooling author, so I'm sold on the magazines' contents for sure; if anyone could get me over a homeschool hump it was Ruth Beechick.
Another thing I like is their current subscription offer. You get 25 free homeschool gifts with a $25 one-year subscription. That's four issues of the magazine plus the free gifts, a bargain even without the bonuses for something you can hold in your hand or take with you to the privacy of your, uh, "reading room." You can find out about how the special works at their website, where you can also subscribe to one or more of their free weekly or monthly e-newsletters. The current issue of each is posted online, as well as the archives, and they're fantastic.
So, why not take a minute and take a look at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. When you face your next homeschool hump, I think you'll be glad you did.
